Finding your dream job as an artist – Fernando’s goosebump moment

(text video)

Fernando: “Hello, my name is Fernando and I come from the Dominican Republic. My goosebump moment happened when I left my job in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, which was a very scary thing to do. But I did that because I didn’t really like what I was working on. It was a very corporate environment, and it ‘s not something that I enjoy, let’s say. I wanted to work as an artist and do the things that I enjoy and actually like spending time working on. So I went out on a journey by myself to find what it is I am passionate about, and it took a bit of time, but I did get there, and I’m still going into that so yeah that was it.”

How to discover the job of our dreams

It is important to look at our strengths, think about who we are, talk to people, educate ourselves, consider our needs and do what makes us happy at the end of the day.

Actively analyzing what you are good at and what makes you tick personality-wise is a powerful way to evaluate a career path that fits and complements those strengths. Of course, you can be good at anything if you put in enough effort or time. But you can save a lot of time and avoid frustration if you let your strengths guide you toward what you should be doing rather than forcing yourself to pursue a career that doesn’t really fit you.

You need to think about what you are really passionate about, not what necessarily looks more lucrative or powerful on paper. Likewise, it is important to identify those things that attract us in such a way that we are always able to muster at least a spark of passion for them.

Art, the dream job

Surely, as an artist, you have had opportunities to be able to perform your vocation from a professional perspective and there are multiple job options in which you can occupy yourself, whilst performing this job. You simply have to pursue a goal and set a behaviour oriented to achieve the objectives you have set for yourself.

On the other hand, you must have a realistic project, develop it punctually, and reorganize it according to your work and the response you receive while working part time at your job and part time at your dream or vocation as an artist. When the earnings from your part-time project exceed what you earn in your job, it is time to quit and devote your full time to build your dream.

According to studies, those who practice artistic creation, from a work point of view, have improved their motivation and are more at ease with their daily life, far from monotony.

Skills for Success

In studying the lives of the world’s most successful people against those of equally capable, but less well-adjusted people, one thing becomes abundantly clear: skills matter. But not just any skill. No, we’re talking about a relatively short list of specific skills that distinguish and enable extraordinary lives. You might call them “key” skills, which relate to time management, decision making, and even strategic planning.

The triumph of many of the most successful people offers unique insight into the importance of these fundamental skills in executing a job search that actually produces a dream job.
