The movie “One Piece Gold” – Alaa’s goosebump moment

(text video)

Alaa: “Hello, I come from Yemen. My goosebump moment was when I was watching an anime film called “One Piece Gold”. The actions of that movie happened in the entertainment city called “Gran Tesoro”. It was an incredible moment when the hero, Luffy, who was the captain of his crew, was fighting Gild Tesoro who wanted to make his friends as pieces of gold. One moment Tesoro held one of Luffy’s friends called Nami, and threw her away, but Luffy moved fast to save her. After that, Luffy changed his fighting style to Gare fourth. He destroyed Tesoro, making people proud of his courage and insistence to save his friends. That moment gave me goosebumps, because that was what we call real friendship.”

An unforgettable scene

With one of the most memorable action sequences, just when Luffy shouts “Robin!”, “One Piece Gold” is consecrated as one of the best films of the franchise. Luffy, the protagonist, does not even need to look, he receives the blow knowing that Robin has Nami and Carina, managing to save them and leaving us with one of the best scenes of the film.

“One Piece Gold”, is not just another “One Piece” movie, it’s the movie with capital letters. If in 2009 and 2012 the “One Piece” universe took a leap in the quality of its film adaptations with “Strong World” and “Film Z”, “Gold” goes even further, both in terms of narrative and animation.

A fresh and exciting story

The story starts off fast-paced, so you’re going to be on the edge of your seat the whole movie. “One Piece Gold” offers us a very exciting plot, where you never know what is really going on. Something that is considered very important is that Toei managed to make a film for everyone, so you don’t need to be used to watching anime to enjoy it.

The movie has several new characters, but the story is so well made that you never feel like you’re missing a piece. Also, for fans of the anime, it sure is enjoyable to see some of the most beloved characters make an appearance in Luffy’s new adventure.

The story is not only fun and full of challenges to overcome, but the viewer also empathises with the crew from the start and during the development of the climax and denouement, the shocking amount of emotions they manage to convey is undoubtedly something that keeps you hooked.

The audiovisual quality is also incredible. The introduction to “Great Treasure” is simply amazing and the graphic quality far surpasses any previous “One Piece” animation. Also, it is hard to explain what you see when the protagonists start exploring the city. This is where the movie shows most of its potential. It is a journey that takes you into the darkness of a city that lives in a circle of material “perfection”, building up the tension quickly and steadily.

Important characters

The cast of main characters, from Luffy to Brook, is the same as always. Even their interpretations maintain the same grace, although because of the time skip they are somewhat different. The only character that shows changes is Nami because we know about the relationship between her and Carina. This character is a thief and the former partner of Nami in her past misdeeds. Here she acts as a double agent, making Tesoro believe that she is loyal to his cause.

There’s nothing more satisfying than a good villain in a movie and that’s just what “One Piece Gold” gives us. The production shows us an unprecedented antagonist, Gildo Tesoro, as an epic character from start to finish.

Tesoro, the antagonist of this installment, is defined by an unhealthy obsession for money. For him, money grants greater power, so those who do not possess money are nothing. His goal, therefore, is to obtain as much wealth as possible and he will not mind enslaving as many people as necessary. No wonder he has developed a God complex, as he believes he is at the top of the pyramid of the world.
