The satisfaction of printing and publishing a book – Manu’s goosebump moment

(text video)

“Hello, my name is Manu, I am from Seychelles and my goosebump moment has to be when I first saw my book printed and published. I have always wanted to be a writer but instead of studying something like literature or similar, I decided to study law. And it was just until I was 30 that I began writing. I didn’t know if anyone would like to read anything I wrote so I just kept writing for myself. Then I decided I wanted to self publish my book so I was part of all the process by myself. And when I saw the book in my hand it felt amazing. Totally amazing”.

The dream of publishing a book

Writing is a passion, and every writer has a dream of publishing their book. It’s exciting when others read what you wrote. It’s like showing the world of your dreams to someone else through a book.

However, facing a blank page is not an easy thing to do. Transferring an author’s ideas from mind to letters is an arduous and time-consuming task. A task that is sometimes hindered by the appearance of different fears, “will they read me?”, “will they understand the message I want to convey?”, “will I meet the expectations generated in my readers?”.

Finally defeating those fears and seeing the results of hard work gives us goosebumps.

Crucial tips when it comes to publishing a book

There are many questions that writers ask themselves while they are writing their works. Doubts that can ruin the literary projects that are in the making.

The first thing to focus on when self-publishing your first book is that you must decide why you want to publish the book. Sometimes, it could be because you are proud of what you have curated, and other times it could be because of the potential you see in the book to reach millions of readers to help them through their lives. Sometimes, authors even want to publish a book for the commercials they bring in. All of these are justified reasons. So, the first thing is to decide why you would want to publish your book.

If this is your first book publishing deal, in addition to your publisher’s thoughts, you should also consider getting additional opinions and feedback from people who are strangers or people you know who provide unbiased opinions. Getting these types of opinions will eventually come in handy when you are trying to understand how people would respond to your story. Therefore, try to get feedback from different people.

They say never judge a book by its cover, but the cover and title help drive sales. Several people tend to buy books because they are attracted by the cover or intrigued by the title of the book. So, it is obvious that you need to stand out with your book with the same. Instead of choosing very unusual titles with no preface, choose titles that are easy to understand and decipherable.

On the other hand, it is a very crucial thing to find a really good editor who can take your book from 0 to 100. He can be very helpful in various things, such as making the manuscript more readable and making it more interesting. Therefore, it is very important that you choose a book editor carefully. The experience of the editor plays a very important role here.

Market your book

Even before you start writing your manuscript, you should focus on marketing your book. If you want to get a better reach, you should leverage your social networks to market your book to the right target audience. So, make sure you focus on the same. This way, you will have new customers and readers even before you publish your book.
