Bohemian Rhapsody: The movie about Queen – Daniel’s goosebump moment

(text video)

“Hello! My name is Daniel, and I am from Guatemala. My goosebump moment is about Queen in their movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. I have always been a huge fan of the band, I always listened to all their music when I was a child. At the time that the movie came out, I got really excited. When I got to the movies and watched it with my partner it was very, very special and surely the last part about the Live Aid concert. It was very special because it was like I was there in the song ‘We Are the Champions’. It was very, very emotional and I couldn’t handle that and I got goosebumps and I almost cried so that was very special.”

Tribute to the life of a legend

Touching, passionate, with an impeccable staging embodied by the amazing performance of Rami Malek: that’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, the movie. The film that pays tribute to the life of Freddie Mercury, the genius behind the many masterpieces of music and the birth of the legendary band Queen.

The story of Farrokh Bulsara, a young man from a Persian family living in London, who found his liberation in music, begins with images from Live Aid (1985). The same boy who, since his adolescence, realized that singing, more than a passion, was an inherent part of him.

An Elegant Film

Anthony McCarten, the author of the screenplays of other blockbusters such as The Theory of Everything or The Darkest Moment, has written a profoundly well-documented script that covers the key milestones for the band Queen and the conception of some of their most characteristic songs. If you are a fan or music lover and have seen concerts and documentaries you will be amazed by the exquisite production design, art direction, sound and dialogue that even at its most transcendental remains human.

The film is a celebration of music and life and, of course, it focuses especially on the figure of Freddie Mercury, although his halo never overshadows his bandmates. This is fundamental because, although it is indisputable that Rami Malek’s acting work is fabulous, it is no less true that Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee and Joseph Mazzello could not have played Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon better. A grade of honor for all of them.

The success of the song

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is the most emblematic single of the British band Queen. This song constituted a break with the way people conceived rock: it combined rock and ballad with opera, and its lyrics, dark and confusing, continue to be enigmatic and fascinating for its followers.

The song was composed by Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the band, and is included in the album ‘A Night at The Opera’. Its release, in 1975, generated a real revolt in commercial radio: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ defied all the conditions to be “radio-friendly”. For example, it was 5 ’55” long, when only 3-minute songs were allowed on the radio.
