The wonders of Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico, the Island of Enchantment – Jamie’s goosebump moment
“Hi! My name is Jamie and I am here to talk about my goosebump moment. I am originally from Puerto Rico and I moved to New York about 8 years ago, and I thought: “Wow! Big city, big buildings, big accessibility, a lot of people from different countries” and I just left Puerto Rico behind. When I came back to Puerto Rico to visit anytime during those 8 years, I realized “Wow… Puerto Rico has so many beaches, and rivers, and lakes, and rainforests and so many natural wonders that I did not learn how to appreciate until I left”. Now, all I wish is that I would live full-time in Puerto Rico again. I wish to have that which I did not know how to appreciate before. So, my goosebump moment is every time I come back and realize how beautiful the island really is. Thank you so much for listening. Bye!”
A warm and colorful country
Puerto Rico is a country full of nature, beauty and charm. On this island, located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, you can find practically everything: from large cities to spectacular caves, mountains and beaches.
In addition, it is a warm, hospitable and colorful country where festivities abound within its traditions. Only 110 miles long and 35 miles wide, its capital, San Juan, is the center of the country with a marriage of old and new, due to its colorful building facades, old watchtowers and cobblestone streets.
Landscapes to fall in love with
This land, where the beauty of its landscapes, its people and its ecosystem enchant those who visit it, is known as the Island of Enchantment. With so much to see and do, there is no reason not to let you be captivated by it.
A visit to Puerto Rico is especially pleasurable when surrounded by beautiful white sanded beaches and water with large waves that delight surfers and other water sport enthusiasts.
This country has more than 270 kilometers of beaches to suit almost any visitor. You can enjoy golden sand beaches in front of the deep blue Atlantic Ocean or white sanded beaches in front of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
In addition, it is not difficult to be captivated by the historical treasures of majestic San Juan, the charming walled city with its imposing fortresses, colorful colonial architecture and numerous attractions.
Also, in Puerto Rico you can enjoy numerous natural parks. The Toro Verde Natural Park is located between San Juan and Ponce, and is an ideal place for nature lovers. In addition, if you like adventure, you can jump from the highest and longest zip line in the world, known as ‘El Monstruo’ (two and a half kilometers long and 350 meters high at its highest point).
Sophisticated clubs, restaurants and casinos, the famous nightlife in Puerto Rico, invite you to enjoy yourself and be happy.
A natural harbor
When the Spanish settled the island in the early 1500s, they realized that Puerto Rico’s value was not in gold or silver, but in its strategic location and deep natural harbor.
The conquistadors turned the city of San Juan into a military outpost. The construction of the wall took more than three centuries and sought to protect Spanish interests in the New World.
The legacy of the conquistadors can be seen and felt in the walls surrounding Old San Juan, in the mighty forts that have been meticulously preserved to showcase the ingenuity of military architecture, and in the elegant colonial buildings of San Juan and Ponce, Puerto Rico’s most picturesque cities.
